Brother Richard V Phillip OFM is a Franciscan Friar who is currently listed as a spiritual director at St. Peter in the Loop Catholic Church Chicago, IL. He professed solemn vows on August 24th, 2024, with the Franciscan Friars of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Province, USA. In a recent Facebook post from St. Peter in the Loop on August 31st at 5pm they advertised an open forum following a session of ‘Living the Gospel’. The post claims that he is not only a friar in residence at St. Peter’s but also in formation, studying to become a priest. This Franciscan province claims that Brother Richard is not only a solemnly professed friar but ALSO in formation. This is in itself a contradiction in terms. They claim that Brother Richard is an authority on what it means to follow God’s call. Brother Richard has been in simply professed vows since 2019. He has yet to complete a simple master’s in divinity from the Catholic Theological Union. This blog will be dedicated to exposing the lies, fabrications, and manipulations of Brother Richard as they come to factual light. These accusations will be based purely on documentary and evidentiary weight. This will expose how the Franciscans use individuals like Brother Richard as mere PR fundraising fodder while rejecting true and honest vocations across a ten-year time span starting in Camden, NJ in 2016.
